Pakistan has suffered greatly from terrorism & can be an important partner in our shared goals of peace & stability tweeted the United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. His thread of tweets in another talk but the way Trump has withdrawn the expected stance on the Afghan policy depicts that America intends to prolong the war which it already seemed to be tired of. His speech at Fort Myer in Arlington, Virginia has not only raised questions about his changed afghan policy which apparently has no changes in it but has also brought forward his disregard of Pakistan’s war on terror. Thousands of civil and military lives that Pakistan has lost in its war on terror cannot be ignored the way Trump did and international community has started countering it. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying, said, “Pakistan is at the frontline of fighting terrorism, has made sacrifices in fighting terrorism, making an important contribution to upholding peace and stability”. China has reacted with a firm stance on the sacrifices that have been laid upon by the Pakistani nation. Donald Trump said, “We will fight to win,” but it seems that his casualness will only bring him the dejection. It would have been more beneficial for the region if he would have jotted down more detailed plan on his expansion of troops in Afghanistan. His unclear plan has already been criticized by the democrats who are also of the view that there is nothing new in Trump’s policy regarding South Asia. It can be inferred that America has a mistaken illusion of the real threats. His Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that the US would “stand ready to support peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban without preconditions”. While about the nation who is combating terrorism since more than a decade now, they said, “We have been paying Pakistan billions and billions of dollars at the same time they are housing the very terrorists that we are fighting”. The response of the Taliban on his speech must awaken him who have promised to craft graveyards in Afghanistan if they don’t keep themselves away. US need to focus on the actual threat if it really wants to ‘win its war’. It is a war of Pakistani nation who ‘cannot lose more’.
