LAHORE: On Tuesday night (tonight), believers around the nation will mark Shab-e-Barat, the 15th of Sha’aban, also known as the night of blessings and glory, in a mood of fervent devotion, asking God to protect the country from terrible economic troubles and inflation.
In order to receive the blessings of Almighty Allah, Muslims will assemble in huge numbers in mosques that have been specially decorated to perform Nawafil, Shabina, and Holy Quran recitation throughout the entire night. Nearly all of the mosques in the city will offer special Shabina prayers, although the Badshahi Masjid, Data Darbar, and Masjid Gunbad-e-Khizra are the most well-known.
Shab-e-Barat is referred to by certain traditions as the night of accountability and blessings, when The Almighty Allah renders a general verdict on people’s lives, deaths, blessings, and bestowments for the upcoming year. Moreover, decisions are made regarding the blessings and Rizq to be given to the believers. In order to obtain these enormous gifts, the believers offer specific prayers for the prosperity of the entire Ummah, requesting harmony, security, the restoration of peace, and most importantly, preventing the nation’s escalating economic catastrophe.
For the protection of worshippers, the majority of the city’s mosques have been adorned with lighting and buntings, and additional security measures have been implemented with the deployment of police troops.
The ulema and prayer leaders presented collective remorse before The Almighty for their misdeeds through their special prayers, describing the financial difficulties as a form of His wrath and punishment, and requesting His blessings to ward off this punishment from the world.
Many Christians will swarm the cemeteries to offer prayers for the souls of their lost loved ones.
