KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah toured several parts of the city on Saturday to assess the repair work and cleanliness of significant storm water drains in light of the forecast for heavy rains in the city starting on Sunday (today).
The KPT Nullah, Machhar Colony Nullah, Mahmoodabad Nullah, Picher Nullah, Urdu Bazaar, Burnes Road, and other low-lying regions were among the places he visited and the municipal officials to whom he provided the necessary directions.
He called the drowning of a lady and her two-month-old infant in Shadman Nullah “unfortunate” while speaking to the media in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.It was time to safeguard the children and other family members by choosing to stay home, he said, adding that “you know we are confronted with natural calamity and in such a scenario, people should avoid going out.”
He emphasised that he wasn’t defending the occurrence. ”
He remarked and showed compassion for the deceased families, “We, being the heads of our families, must protect our families in natural calamities like circumstances.”
The idea that the local government department had neglected to drain out rainfall was dismissed by Mr. Shah.
When it stopped raining, he claimed, the rainwater had been cleaned, and the city’s residents had been grateful for the government’s efforts.He said that the city’s local governments had taken the required preparations and precautions for any rain-related scenario.
The chief minister said that the Pakistani Election Commission had delayed the local government elections against the wishes of the Sindh administration.
