ISLAMABAD: At least three Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred when terrorists opened fire on the troops from across the Pak-Afghan border in the Dewagar area of North Waziristan, said the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.

The military’s media wing added that Pakistani troops responded in a ‘befitting manner’ due to which terrorists suffered heavy causalities, as per intelligence reports.

However, during the gunfight, Havaldar Taimoor (resident of Jhelum, age 30 years), Naik Shoaib (resident of Attock, age 38 years) and Sepoy Saqib Nawaz (resident of Sialkot, age 24 years), having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom, the ISPR added.

“Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for activities against Pakistan and expects that Afghan government will not allow the conduct of such activities, in future.”

“Pak Army is determined to defend Pakistan’s borders against the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve,” further added the military’s media wing.

On February 6, at least five soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom when terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire on Pakistani troops across the international border in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district, the military said.

During the fire exchange, Lance Naik Ajab Noor (resident of Karachi, age 34 years), Sepoy Ziaullah Khan (resident of Lakki Marwat, age 22 years), Sepoy Naheed Iqbal (resident of Karak, age 23 years), Sepoy Sameerullah Khan (resident of Bannu, age 18 years) and Sepoy Sajid Ali (resident of Bahawalnagar, age 27 years) embraced martyrdom, said the military’s media wing.
