RAWALPINDI: Two death row convicts were hanged on Tuesday morning in central Adiala Jail Rawalpindi and another in Sahiwal.
Retired Capt Zafar Iqbal had murdered 11 persons in 1994 in Arya Mohallah and Sangori Village of Mandra over longstanding enmity while Mirza Sarfraz had killed a local in Gujar Khan area in 1993.
Iqbal’s review plea was turned down by a three-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) in 2008 while his clemency plea was also rejected by the president. A death row prisoner involved in a murder case was also executed in the Central Jail Sahiwal on early Tuesday morning.
Prisoner Mansha had killed a man in 2001 during a robbery attempt. The dead body of the prisoner was handed over to his heirs after the execution.
