RAWALPINDI: Police arrested two target killers involved in murders of four people in the city during grand raids in Rawalpindi and Karachi.
City Police Officer (CPO) Humayun Bashir Tarar during a crowded press briefing held at Police Line Number 1 here on Tuesday disclosed that two target killers identified as Naveed Hassan alias M Asif alias Faisal son of Fida Ali of Gilgit and Syed Muntazir Abbas son of Syed Abbas Ali Shah hails from Mohalla Nagral Gilgit and present in Universal Hostel, Pindora. Both the accused confessed their crimes. Police have solved the mystery of three blind murders occurred in the city.
He said that he had given a special task to his officer of Police (SPs) Karamat Ullah Malik and Muhammad Ateeque Tahir to control the crime rate in Rawalpindi and with much hard work of officers crime rate has declined significantly.
CPO claimed that with this huge success of police in all the fields, control the crime rate. He said that police have arrested two target killers who confessed killing four peoples in targeted attacks. He informed that the target killer Naveed murdered Mufti Imran on 21/5/14 on Tulsa Road; ended life of Imran in Chota Sahiwal in 2013 and injured one Sarwar Jahangir during firing in 2013 and murdering a judge Jamshed. The accused also fled from jail. Some seven cases were registered against the accused, he added. The second target killer, CPO added, Syed Mutazir Abbas killed a man Abdul Wakeel in Gilgit in 2012.
Police during operations in Rawal and Potohar Divisions supervised by Superintendents of Police (SPs) Karamat Ullah Malik and Muhammad Ateeque Tahir have also busted 8 notorious gangs and arrested 40 accused involved in stealing two and four wheelers, house robberies, dacoities, looting people on gunpoint, mobile snatching, gambling, smuggling arms and ammunitions and narcotics besides recovering booty from their possession. A huge quantity of explosives and detonators were also seized by police from the division.
The booty recovered by police included 34 cars, 35 motorcycles, Rs 20, 41, 695 cash, gold jewelry worth Rs 1.8 million, 233 pistols of 30 bore, 21 revolvers of 32 bore, riffles 16, Kalashankoves 4, 1923 bullets, 75 kgs of explosive matierial, 1000 detonators, 196.520 kg Charas, 6.325 kg heroin and 5024 litters alcohol and a large numbers of laptops, computers and mobile phones.
He further said that police solved the mystery of three blind murder cases including chopping case of Manmohan Singh, a Sikkh doctor at Sadiqabad, by nabbing 5 accused.
Other police officers SP Rawal Division Karamat Ullah Malik, SP Potohar Division Muhammad Attique Tahir, DSPs Syed Iqbal Kazmi, Sardar Babar Mumtaz, Farhan Aslam, Faisal Salim, SHOs Jahangir Bhatti, Malik Arshad, Sittar Khan, Raja Rashid, Waseem, Chaudhry Jamil and many other police officers were also present in press briefing.
