ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday said those seeking resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not want development and prosperity in the country.
He said this while talking in a renowned program of Roze News ‘Sachi Baat’ hosted by Editor in Chief of Pakistan Group of Newspapers and Chairman Roze News Sardar Khan Niazi on Friday. He said that People of the country had elected the prime minister with heavy mandate and he would not give resignation. He said the conspirators were hatching conspiracy to weaken the democratic system.
He said that court will announce final verdict as Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had only submitted its report in the Supreme Court and the court would now give decision on Panama Papers case.
While talking about the detail of meeting of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) parliamentary leaders on Friday, he said that it was discussed that there was not a single word on corruption against Prime Minister in the report submitted by JIT in Panama Leaks case. He said that Sharif Family should be lauded for presenting itself for accountability despite the reservations shown on the formation of JIT and its code of conduct.
Shahid Khaqan said that behavior of the JIT members was questionable and even before the final report it was well known that what would be the outcome of such investigation. He said that it seems only interest of JIT is to remove Prime Minister. He said that forming a JIT in this manner was unprecedented.
He said that it is regrettable that some elements are favouring political instability and uncertainty just to gain their petty interests. He said the stock market, which had reached a bullish 54,000 points has plunged because of the unscrupulous elements and enemies of progress and prosperity. He said that party members have shown complete confidence on the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and legal battle would be fought empathically.
