PARIS: A standard release on CD and vinyl will be made available this summer for some of TikTok’s most viral songs, the site revealed on Friday.
The partnership with Warner Classics marks TikTok’s first foray into the mainstream music industry, and the 18 tracks will be made available on streaming services and in physical record stores.
Everyone who has spent plenty of time on the streaming video service will be familiar with tunes like Alice Merton’s “No Roots,” which has been featured in 1.3 million videos.
Or the 3.4 million TikTok users’ favorite piano ditty “Pieces” by Danilo Stankovic.
Some songs reflect the bizarre music that can become viral on the platform, including “Monkeys Spinning Monkeys,” an exuberant, flutist-heavy song that is the ideal backdrop music for many humorous films (27.1 million and counting).
The German Babelsberg Film Orchestra has given each a thorough work-over.
