ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has clarified the alleged announcement by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb that no proposal to increase the salaries of government employees is currently under consideration, saying that the Finance Minister has not made any such statement.

The Ministry of Finance has said that Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb did not make any such announcement or statement while addressing the floor of the National Assembly, and the news broadcasted in this regard attributed to him is not based on reality.

The Ministry of Finance has said in its clarification that no discussion was made regarding the revision of the pay scales of government employees or their salaries in the Finance Minister’s address.

The Ministry of Finance has informed the esteemed house about the situation in writing after a question was raised by a respected member of the assembly.

The Ministry of Finance informed the House that at present, no proposal to revise the pay scales of federal government employees and significantly increase their salaries and allowances is under consideration for the next fiscal year.
