The China Pakistan Economic Corridor Support Project and Development Communication Project(CPECSP), according to the Auditor General of Pakistan, have not met their goals and have been recommended to be closed along with an investigation into this matter.
The Rs. 732 million China Pakistan Economic Corridor Support Project (CPECSP), which was started by the previous PML(N) administration, has fallen short of its goals. It is advised that an investigation be conducted in this regard and that the project be closed.
The “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Support (3rd Revised)” project, with a total cost of Rs. 732 Million, was approved by CDWP on October 19, 2017, according to the audit report.The main goals of the project are to establish/strengthen the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Secretariat under the Ministry of Planning in order to coordinate and carry out projects and activities related to the corridor in partnership with the relevant line ministries.
The management responded that all CPECSP officers and personnel are currently working on the project operations and supporting the CPEC Authority until it is fully functional, in accordance with the direction from the competent authority.
According to the report, CPEC Support Project’s Goals Were Not Achieved,the response is unacceptable because management did not address the Audit’s observations. In order to stop further public money from being wasted, it is therefore advised that the project be closed, according to the audit report.
