The Chief Justice of Pakistan said that a humane and efficient prison system is essential to ensure a fair legal framework. The data collected by the Law and Justice Commission shows a deeply alarming situation across the country, 108,643 in a capacity of 66,625. Prisoners are kept.
He said that Punjab is facing particularly severe challenges, Punjab has a capacity of 36,365 while the number of prisoners is 67,837, 36,128 prisoners are awaiting trial for more than a year, this situation is an important issue for the justice system.
