LAHORE: TEVTA signed MoU with Govt. of the Punjab Energy Department for Training of Solar Power Technicians. The MoU was signed by Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Shaikh and Additional Chief Secretary Jehanzeb Khan here on Monday at TEVTA Secretariat.
This MoU is aimed to enter into joint collaboration for training of Solar Photovoltaic Technicians. This 6 months training will be partly conducted at TEVTA Institute and partly at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Private Limited Company which will provide Solar Power facility working under the Energy Department to equip the students with theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on technical skills required for installation, operationalization and maintenance of solar power projects in Punjab.
Secretary Energy Asad Rehman Gillani, Chief Operating Officer TEVTA Jawad Ahmad Qureshi, Focal Person Quaid-e-Azam Solar Private Limited Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan, General Managers TEVTA Hamid Ghani Anjum, Abdul Qayyum, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Director R&D Dr. Iftikhar Hussain Shah and and other TEVTA officers were also present on this occasion.
Irfan Qaiser Shaikh while giving the details of MoU said that 6-months duration course of Solar PV System for Power Generation will be conducted at Govt. College of Technology (GCT) for Boys Bahawalpur, whereas the practical part of training will be conducted in the form of On Job Training (OJT) at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Private Limited 100MW project site which is situated over 500 acres of land in Cholistan Desert near Bahawalpur. The machinery and equipment for practical training will be provided by Energy Department/QA Solar at their project site. This course will be offered to all general public with the entry level of G-II level 2-year Diploma in Industrial Electronics/Instrumentation and DAE in Electrical, Electronics and Telecom.
This joint venture will increase employment opportunities for passing out students in emerging technologies in the energy sector at local and global level with better wages. This venture intends to establish a relationship for collaboration based on the principle of cooperation for supporting the development of skilled human resource for Energy Department Power Projects.
Additional Chief Secretary Jahanzab Khan in his address said Punjab is facing acute shortage of power required for industrial growth and economic progress. In view of lingering energy crisis and opportunity provided by the new enabling framework, the Government of the Punjab decided to play a pro-active role in the energy sector. He further the operatinalization of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Private Limited requires training of Solar PV Technicians which can only be achieved through TEVTA, Punjab in joint collaboration with Energy Department.
