MULTAN, May 23 (INP): A teacher and 38 students were buried under the debris and injured when a roof in a school collapsed in Basti Aliwala on Muzaffargarh
Road here on Saturday. Nine children who got severely injured in the incident were rushed to Nishtar Hospital where two of them are said to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, police arrived at the scene and took the school principal into custody. Angry mob including locals and relatives surrounded the police van and hurled stones at the vehicle. They demanded that school principal should be handed over to them however the police managed to evacuate him safely. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and sought a report from Secretary Education in this regard.
He also directed for providing best possible medical facilities to the injured. Multan DCO Zahid Saleem has taken a notice of the incident and formed a three-member committee to look into the matter.
