ISLAMABAD: The souvenir shop set up at the ground floor of the National Assembly to enable the members and the guests to purchase items of their choice is being misused for propaganda purpose.
While in the past, national flag, woodcraft, marble and other items were on sale for the last few months but now tea mugs have been put on sale with pictures of politicians.
What is more surprising is that tea mugs with photographs of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, who is highly critical of Pakistani institutions, have been put on sale along with those of PM Nawaz Sharif, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Imran Khan.
Whether this was done with special political intent is any body’s guess because the MQM Parliamentarians have also resigned from their seats and attempts are being made to persuade them to withdraw their resignations. On the other hand there is no tea mug having pictures of any of the MQM parliamentarians.
