ISLAMABAD, OCT 23 (DNA) – Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Sherali Jononov said on Thursday Pakistan shall be admitted in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as full member next year adding the decision was taken at the SCO recent meeting held in Dushanbe this month.
The ambassador said this while giving a briefing to media people on Thursday about the recently held SCO summit and CASA 1000 project.
The ambassador said the SCO summit observed, the presidency of the Republic of Tajikistan in the SCO contributed to further strengthen friendship between the peoples of the member states and cooperation on entire range of issues in the agenda of the organization.
The heads of states noted that an important role in development of business, trade and investment cooperation on the organization’s space belongs to interaction between business and financial communities of SCO member states, SCO business council financial communities of members’ states and SCO interbank association including by involving the capacity of observer states and dialogue partners.
In accordance with the SCO charter chairmanship in the organization for the coming period will go to Russia. The next meeting therefore shall take place in the Russian city of Ufa in 2015, the ambassador added.
He also talked about CASA 1000 energy project, which he hoped shall be completed by the year 2017. He said, the completion of CASA 1000 project will usher in a new era of progress in the region.= DNA
