NATO helicopters violate Pak airspace

BARA: A suicide bomber blew himself up in a peace committee meeting in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency on Wednesday, killing at least five people and wounding ten others, officials said.

The bombing took place in Pir Mela village of the restive Khyber tribal district. “At least five tribesmen were killed and ten others were wounded after a suicide bomber blew himself up in an Aman (peace) committee meeting,” a local government official told. Local security officials also confirmed the bombing and casualties.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of Governor of KP Mehtab Ahmed Khan told that the top provincial official condemned the suicide bombing and ordered health authorities to provide the best care for the wounded.

Nobody immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.  Meanwhile NATO gunship helicopters violated Pakistani airspace and entered Pakistani territory where they stayed for 10 minutes before returning.

According to a private TV channel, at least five helicopters were seen flying near the Pak-Afghan border and two of them entered Pakistani territory in Torkham and Pasidkhel. The helicopters remained in Pakistani airspace for 10 minutes and returned without any action.

Sources said the helicopters crossed over through Shamshad mountains situated between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The flying of the helicopters created panic among residents of the area. INP
