ISLAMABAD: Students of rural areas of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), including Nilor, Bara Kahu and Tarnol, are facing problems to get high education in the absence of degree or post-graduate colleges in their areas.

Both the girls and boys have to go to colleges in urban areas which are already overburdened.

A girls’ college building has been constructed in Bara Kahu, but it has not been made functional because its boundary wall has not yet been built.

Aslam, a resident of Bara Kahu, said upgrading the existing higher secondary school in Bara Kahu to degree college would facilitate the local students to get high education. Even it would benefit the students belonging to Kotli Sattian, who already took admission in this institution, he added.

Arslan Khan, who resides in Tarnol, said his two sons had all the way to go to a government college in Islamabad to pursue their graduation degree. Establishment of a degree college in Tanol would facilitate local students but also those of surrounding areas to get higher education near their homes.

When contacted, an office-bearer of Federal Government Teachers Association stressed the need of setting up graduate and pot-graduate colleges in rural areas to facilitate the students.
