Strong tremors jolt, Islamabad, KP, AJK, five injured in Batgram

ISLAMABAD: A 5.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir on Friday, injuring at least five people and causing minor damage.

The earthquake hit Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Swat, Peshawar Nowshera, Mansehra, Batgram, Muzaffarabad and other areas.

According to Pakistan’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicenter of the quake was 51 kilometer north of Mansehra while its depth was measured 32 kilometer.

According to sources in Batgram district, at least five people were injured in Batgram when two houses collapsed and they were shifted to hospital for treatment.
