LAHORE: Law Minister of Punjab, Rana Sanaullah on Friday has said that his statement regarding reservations over military courts was used to target the government and that no explanation has been called off him in the issue.
He said that military courts did deliver on the expectations of the nation and that he was not against the installations however, added that civil system is required to be functioning right as well.
Earlier on Thursday, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa reviewed last session of archery competition in Jhelum and addressed officials in Kharian Cantonment later in the day.
During his address, army officials complained about Rana Sanaullah’s statement regarding military courts.
The development had come in after Sanaullah expressed his disappointment over performance of the army courts which were established for speedy trails of terrorists following an attack on a school in Peshawar on December 16, 2014 that claimed at least 140 lives, mostly children.
However, Sanaullah retracted his statement a day later and said that he was satisfied with performance of the military courts.
Maryam Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting slammed law minister’s statement and termed it a result of his sheer ignorance. NNI
