Islamabad: In the meeting of the Standing Committee on Human Rights of the National Assembly, it has been emphasized that the members of the parliament should not be tolerated under any circumstances and asked to unite at the committee level that there should be no political revenge.
The meeting of the Standing Committee on Human Rights of the National Assembly was chaired by the Chairman Committee Sahibzada Hamid Raza where the members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (N) and other parties participated. .
In the Human Rights Committee meeting, the Islamabad Capital Territory Child Marriage Restraint Bill 2024 was reviewed and on this occasion, PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan said that the Islamic Ideological Council had received an observation in this regard.
PPP Member of Assembly Sharmila Farooqui said that this observation came in 2014, the decision of the Federal Shariat Court came after that and after that the decision of the Lahore High Court also came.
Sharmila Farooqui said that in many other countries of the world the age is 19, some 18 and some 20 years, a girl’s identity card is made at 18 years and they can vote at 18 years.
The committee decided to take input from all the stakeholders regarding the marriageable age of girls and the chairman committee called all the stakeholders in the next meeting.
Officials of the Ministry of Health, Education, Religious Affairs, Parliamentary Affairs and Islamic Ideological Council were called in the committee meeting.
During the meeting, PTI Member of Assembly Zartaj Gul said that national and international human rights organizations should be included in the committee and that committee should visit Adiala Jail.
Zartaj Gul said that the committee should examine the conditions of the prisoners in the jails as women were ill-treated.
PPP MLA Sahar Kamran said that our political history is very bitter, what happened was condemnable, Faryal Talpur was sent to jail on Eid night, Asif Ali Zardari was not allowed to offer Eid prayers, but now this matter Must end.
Sahar Kamran said that insulting MPs is not tolerated in any way.
Chairman Committee for Human Rights Sahibzada Hamid Raza said that no one can achieve point scoring, the committee level should agree that there should be no political revenge.
