The meeting resulted in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federation Council of Russia and the Senate of Pakistan.
The two sides emphasized that Russia and Pakistan enjoy traditionally friendly relations, active bilateral political dialogue, including at the highest level,
and strong inter-parliamentary relations.
Madam Speaker highlighted that Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has made a significant contribution to strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation within the SCO, including during his tenure as Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chairman of the Russia-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Valentina Matvienko invited Chairman Senate to pay an official visit to Russia in 2025.
Madam Speaker also visited the Senate Museum and left a note in the Senate Book of honorary guests.
