LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah on Monday stated that certain ‘beloved’ ones of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif do not want democracy to prevail in the country.

He warned that if the politicians continue to follow the past trends then they themselves shall be responsible for the consequences and that his party does not intend to destabilize the system through engaging in conflicts.

While criticizing the government’s role regarding the Women’s Protection Bill, Shah said that giving a political statement makes no one a liberal. He added that such laws do not give rights instead there is need to accept the rights of women in the practical sense.

Opposition Leader stated that accountability should be done with utmost equality and that all institutions must function while remaining within their limits. NNI
