ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali on Monday blamed PPP-led Sindh government for increased power outages in Karachi.
“Sindh government is responsible for load shedding in Karachi,” the minister told journalists in Islamabad.
He said 650 megawatts of electricity is being given to K-Electric, the private company that supplies Karachi with power.
A wrong contract was signed with K-Electric and the company has not renewed this contract yet, he added.
Abid Sher Ali said load shedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being carried out on the will of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. He categorically stated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is getting its allocated share of electricity and the load-management is done by the provincial government.
The minister further remarked that seven hundred thousand powers transformers across the country need to be changed.
