A young man armed with a gun opened fire on a bus carrying Israeli civilians in the West Bank.
According to the International News Agency, a bus carrying Jewish settlers from Israel to Nablus was attacked in the West Bank. The attacker, who appeared to be Palestinian, opened fire on the bus, seriously injuring several people. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where a ten-year-old boy died, while several others are being treated, three of whom are in critical condition.
The Israeli army said the attacker fled after the incident and is being pursued, while the Tunnel Military Checkpoint between Jerusalem and the West Bank city of Bethlehem has been closed.
The statement said that Israeli security forces are setting up roadblocks and are surrounding the Jerusalem area to arrest the attacker.
The Israeli army said that the bus, which was heading to the holy site of Nablus, did not give advance notice, otherwise they would have been provided security or stopped from traveling.
The Israeli military has not yet been able to arrest or identify the attacker. CCTV footage is being examined.
It should be remembered that in response to Israel’s airstrikes and atrocities on Gaza, Israeli property and civilians have been targeted not only inside Israel but also in several countries.
