It is said that when you want to bring revolution, you have to make a sacrifice of blood. However, it’s always the innocent civilians who end up making this sacrifice. Whether it’s movement for Pakistan’s independence or separating East Pakistan, leaders and governments always demand the sacrifice of blood from the public. A tragic event unfolded on 24th November in Islamabad during PTI’s final rally, now infamously known as “Sanha Islamabad”. However, the pressing question remains: who bears responsibility for this widespread devastation? Is it the authoritarian government or the extremist opposition? Both are responsible for the destruction of the public. Whoever shows fascism, the other proves to be more extremist.
According to the latest reports from Al Jazeera, several members of Pakistan’s security services, including Pakistani Rangers, have been killed since Monday, as confirmed by the government. Additionally, the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) party claims that two protesters were also killed and dozens more were injured in the clashes. These developments come amid rising tensions and violence in the region. Both the rangers and the protesters are Pakistani citizens, and their lives are not so trivial that they can be disposed of as a result of political instability. Bushra Bibi or Ali Amin Gandapur was leading the protest in this march. They all made promises that they would march with funeral shrouds on their heads. They will end the protest by taking out the khan from the jail. Bushra Bibi had said that she would stand till the end at D-Chowk, but when the security forces started using tear gas and automatic firing, Bushra Bibi was the first woman to leave the scene.
On the other hand, Ali Amin Gandapur, who is the Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been leading rallies to the capital, despite looking the conflicts between Shia and Sunni communities in Parachinar. In protest public tried to stop him from fleeing and joining the revolution but he ran away to Mahnsera with Bushra Bibi. In all this, only the public is suffering. If these leaders had led the public to D-Chowk, it was their responsibility to protect them. And if there was bloodshed, they should have stood with them and faced the bullets, instead of abandoning the public and fleeing to Mahnsera. When leaders are not willing to sacrifice their lives, what revolution are they talking about, and why are they demanding sacrifices from the public?
In Islamabad, the innocent have suffered, and the city has been ravaged, yet no tangible outcomes have been achieved. The opposition has employed emotional manipulation, breaching rules and coaxing people into joining them. Conversely, the government has perpetrated violence against the populace through tear gas and automatic firearms. In this contentious struggle between the government and opposition, it is the innocent citizens and Pakistan itself that suffer. Why do these individuals persist in targeting the capital? When the government is aware of the impending protest, why do they not initiate negotiations beforehand? Why do they await the arrival of the protesters, only to yield to destruction and subsequent compromise? The government’s response entails internet shutdowns, social media blockages, motorway closures, and significant hardship for the general public. Ultimately, the people derive no benefits from this turmoil.
The government and opposition have together created chaos throughout the country and used common people for the sake of power. Mahatma Gandhi Quoted that, An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind. Therefore, the government and the opposition should abandon their fascist attitude and reconcile their issues without harming the public and national interest and safeguarding the welfare.
