UFA, Russia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif are expected to meet on Friday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Ufa. The leaders are likely to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to an Indian channel, at least 5 agreements are expected to be signed between the two leaders. These include Indian and Pakistani banks to be set up in each other’s countries. Three year multiple entry visas is also likely to be given to Pakistan businessmen. Multiple entry visas is also likely to be given to bus travellers on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route and Delhi-Lahore route.
When asked to comment on the likelihood of Prime Minister’s meeting with the Indian Prime Minister, spokesman foreign office confirmed that Pakistan had responded positively to a suggestion from the other side for a meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the Summits.
He recalled that it has always been Prime Minister’s policy to seek cordial and cooperative ties with all neighboring countries including India.
It was in the pursuit of this objective that thePrime Minister would be meeting the Indian Prime Minister for a comprehensive exchange on all issues of common interest.
He said during the two-day visit to Ufa, the Prime Minister is looking forward to hold meetings with the participating leaders including the Russian President, the Chinese President and the Afghan President.
