Shahbaz strongly condemns firing incident at PTI rally

JHELUM, Nov 16 (NNI): Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday strongly condemned the firing on PTI rally at Karmala near Jehlum.

He advised PTI leadership not let itself become laughing stock by making allegations against PML-N for everything.

In a statement, The Minister said that the federal government was also held responsible for barbaric action taken by police against IDPs in KPK.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has sought report from Commissioner and RPO Rawalpindi division about firing on PTI rally.

He has directed the concerned officials to conduct probe into the incident and immediately arrest the perpetrators. He also instructed the health department officials to provide best medical facilities to the injured.

In this connection, the Chief Minister also sought a report from DPO Jehlum. It may be recalled that eight persons were injured in firing opened by some unknown persons near Karmala area. Four people injured are reportedly in critical condition.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif also condemned the incident.

DPO Jehlum Sarfraz Virk has said that ten people were injured in Karmala firing incident and investigation about the incident are in progress. He said that both the sides are accusing each other of opening fire. He further said that security has been beefed up in Jehlum after the incident

Former MPA Punjab Assembly belonging to PML-N, Chaudhry Nadeem Khadim has denied his involvement in firing on PTI rally at Karmala near Jehlum. In a statement, he said that he is not involved in the incident, instead the PTI workers opened fire on his residence in Jehlum and they retaliated to the firing.

It may be noted that in a firing incident, at least eight workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were injured in Jhelum.

The PTI rally was targeted near Karmala where it was heading towards the rally venue.  PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhary, while talking media, alleged that PML-N’s former parliamentarian Nadeem Khadim has ordered his goons to target the PTI caravan, for reasons better known to him. “He opened fire when the rally was passing by the area.”

He said eight are injured while two of them are critically injured. NNI
