73 persons diagnosed for dengue in Punjab

Water gradually receding in flood hit areas

LAHORE, Sept 21 (DNA):In Punjab, water is gradually receding in flood hit areas of the Province and the flood affected people have begun returning to their homes.

This has been stated by Director General Punjab Disaster Management Authority Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi in Lahore. He said the government is providing relief to the flood-hit people with national spirit.

He said medical facilities have been provided to 2,99,953 persons so far. Ahmed Javed Qazi said a report regarding losses caused in flood-hit districts is being prepared so that process of distributing financial assistance among affectees could be initiated at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the concerned departments to initiate rehabilitation work in the flood hit areas at the earliest.

In a statement in Lahore, the Punjab Chief Minister said he himself is monitoring the relief and rehabiltation work in the flood affected areas.

Shahbaz Sharif said he would pay surprise visits to review relief work. He said the unannounced visits provide an opportunity to know actual ground realities and have better information about the problems being faced by the affectees.

Meanwhile, Dengue patient’s numbers have reached to 73 in Punjab as three more cases have diagnosed in Rawalpindi.

The report stated that the dengue virus spread has again on rise due to recent rains and flood. As many as 73 patients have been diagnosed with the disease throughout Punjab.
