LAHORE: At least seven people were burnt to death and several others scorched when a huge blaze erupted at the office of a private company here on Wednesday.
Rescue sources said that due to gas cylinder explosion fire erupted in a private company office located near Mahmood Booti in the provincial capital Lahore. The fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire building within no time.
Fire tenders and rescue personnel rushed the scene of the fire and started rescue operation. Mayor Lahore Col (Rtd) Mubashar Mehmood reached the site of fire and monitored the rescue work.
The fire was brought under control after hectic efforts of more than two hours. The bodies and scorched people were shifted to Khawaja Saeed Hospital, Lahore.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif taking notice of the fire directed the concerned authorities and Rescue 1122 to find out the reasons of the fire as soon as possible and submit a detailed report in this connection. He also expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives and condoled with the bereaved families besides directing to ensure best treatment facilities to the scorched people. INP
