BANNU, Oct 02 (NNI): Three suspected terrorists were killed and four others were arrested on Thursday in a clash with security forces in Frontier Region Jani Khel.

Official sources said that the clash took place in Wali Noor Jan Khel while security personnel were carrying out the operation. Sources confirmed that the clash left three militants dead while four others, including a key commander, were arrested.

A curfew has been imposed in the area and security forces are continuing with their operation.

A huge quantity of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the suspected terrorists’ possession.

The bomb disposal unit (BDU) thwarted an attempt of blowing up a power pylon on the outskirts of Peshawar.

BDU officials said that three 5kg bombs were fixed with the pillars of the power tower in Khazana, which were defused in time.

BDU personnel had also prevented a disaster last night by defusing a 10 kg bomb in the posh neighbourhood of Hayatabad.

AIG Shafqat Malik said that “the remote controlled improvised explosive device was attached on a motorcycle in Phase 2 Hayatabad.” He also stated that, “the bike might have been parked to target law enforcement agencies and could have caused major damage.”
