ISLAMABAD:The Secretary Election Commission on Sunday paid rich tributes to the Pakistan Army for ensuring peaceful by-election in NA 122 and 14.Briefing the journalists after polling ended in NA 122 and 144, Secretary Babar Yaqoob said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) letter regarding Prime Minister’s alleged violation of election code of conduct was received; however, it was not made clear what violation has the Prime Minister committed.He further said that recent elections took place under supervision of the army, adding that the army is neutral and there’s no concern that the result can be changed.
The secretary said the electoral material was transported to Deputy Returning Officers’ offices under army’s supervision. He said a false statement attributed to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) was published yesterday (Saturday) but the report of taking notice on Imran Khan’s audio message is not in their knowledge. He said Punjab Police also played a praiseworthy role, adding that the Election Commission commends the efforts of official personnel, Returning Officers (ROs), Deputy Returning Officers (DROs) and polling staff.
