ISLAMABAD, Nov 29 (INP): The Supreme Court of Pakistan Saturday fixed the hearing of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification case on December 8.
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk will be heading the seven-member larger bench that will take identical petitions of Gohar Nawaz Sindhu, PTI leader Ishaq Khakwani and PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Earlier this week, the Chief Justice constituted a larger bench after a three-member bench referred the case to the Chief Justice on November 10.
The petitioners seek PM to be disqualified for the public office over his Aug 29 speech in joint parliament session in which he mentioned army chief’s role as mediator between government and protesting parties.
The bench will hear petitions in the light of Article 62, 63 and 66 of the Constitution which deals with eligibility of a candidate to hold a public office.
