ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Wednesday took notice of torture on minor maid servant working in house in Islamabad.
The notice was taken after media reported that the father of the 10-year-old ‘forgave’ her alleged tormentors.
Taking the cognizance of issue of alleged maltreatment and subsequently reported patch up and compromise, the Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered to call a detailed report from Registrar, Islamabad High Court within 24 hours.
Earlier, in a First Information Report, the 10-year-old girl stated that she had been living at the said house for nearly two years. The girl claimed that she was often beaten up in the house. Most recently, she alleged her hands were shoved onto a burning stove and then was beaten after a broom went missing.
She said the owners of the house would usually lock her up in a storeroom at night besides starving and beating her. The police took the girl into custody after recovering her from the house of the judge. However, the father of the child appeared in court on Tuesday and said he had ‘no objections’ to the court granting bail to the suspects. He claimed that he had investigated the matter on his own and found the case to be a false one.
CJP takes notice of sale of substandard cooking oil at USC:
Justice Mian Saqib Nisar Wednesday also took notice on an application of Asif Nadeem Butt, President-Anjuman Tajran, Chowk Shaheedan, Mirpur, AJK, sent through Human Right Cell, Supreme Court of Pakistan alleging that substandard and adulterated cooking oil is being sold at Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan. .
Taking notice of the issue, CJP Justice Mian Saqib Nisar fixed the HRC case in Court on Thursday, 5th January with notice to Secretary Ministry of Industries & Production, Islamabad, Managing Director, Utility Stores Corporation, Islamabad, Executive Director, National Institute of Health, Islamabad, Asif Nadeem Butt, President-Anjuman Tajran, Chowk Shaheedan, Mirpur, AJK to appear in Court.
