LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan on Thursday remarked that misuse of masses’ tax money will not be allowed, ordered Chief Secretary to take back the luxury vehicles in Punjab till 12 midnight. Chief Justice of Pakistan heard suo-moto case regarding usage of luxury cars.
During the hearing of the case, the CJP also ordered to take back the vehicles from CM Punjab and Rana Sanaullah soon after Punjab Government dissolves.
Additional Attorney General informed the honourable court that 105 luxury cars are under use of the federal government and cabinet, no officer or minister is eligible to hold 1800cc car, he added. According to the details shared by the additional attorney general, One Land Cruiser, 3 double cabin vehicles are under use of Molana Fazlur Rehman, Abid Sher Ali and Kamran Michael are using Mercedes Benz, Opposition Leader, Khursheed Shah and Attorney General are using bulletproof vehicles.
Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar reprimanded federal government over lack of progress in Asghar Khan case.
A three-member bench, headed by the top judge, heard the case at Supreme Court Lahore Registry. The bench also comprises Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Justice Gulzar Ahmed.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General appeared before the court and told that inquiry into the matter is underway.
CJP remarked that why hasn’t the federal cabinet done anything regarding the Asghar Khan case verdict, adding that this is a serious case and government is least concerned about it. The lawyer of federal government requested the court to grant him respite in calling the cabinet meeting. INP
