KARACHI: The larger bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Chief Justice Mr. Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali resumed the hearing of suo-moto law and order implementation case in Karachi Registry on Thursday.
The Chief Secretary Sindh told the bench of the Supreme Court that 820 CCTV cameras were installed in Karachi out of which 803 are non-functional.
He further told the bench that five hundred million rupees had been spent on the purchase of two mega pixel cameras.
Justice Ameer Hani Muslim expressed his displeasure over the poor condition of CCTV cameras in such a large number and added that they were very important for tracking street and other crimes.
Earlier, the I.G. Sindh, Advocate General Sindh, and the Chief Secretary Sindh presented the report in the Court about the CCTV cameras.
The next day of hearing has been fixed 11th of the next month.
