SBP initiates internship for agri financing

HYDERABAD (INP): With the assistance of State Bank of Pakistan the agriculture graduates will be empowered through three months internship program in agri-financing, so the limit of 500 million of credit could be reached to the farming community.

Prof. Dr. Mujeebuddin Memon, Vice Chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam said this while addressing the inauguration session of the regional internship program for agriculture graduates held at State Bank of Pakistan at Hyderabad. In his inaugural speech he emphasized the trained manpower in the field of agriculture credits to cope the challenges of the agriculture sector in the province.

He further said that the farmers of the province are facing lots of problem. However, we should strengthen the agriculture graduates through agri-financing for proper credit extension services to the farming community. He said that agriculture is the backbone of our country and the role of agriculture and livestock is not being ignored for the prosperity of the nation.

He appreciated the efforts of State Bank of Pakistan for initiating such internship program especially for the agriculture graduates to develop their skills in agri financing. He urged the students that they should take maximum benefit from this opportunity and make bright future in their career services. He assured that Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam will play a vital role for the quality of education in the field of agriculture and livestock.

Muhammad Humayoon Khan, Chief Manager (SBP) welcomed the participants. Mr. Kamran Akram Bakhshi, Additional Director, Agriculture Credit and Microfinance Department (SBP) said that this program is focused to create awareness among the agriculture graduates regarding the agri-financing policy and regulatory framework. He further said that agriculture is the base of country’s economy and poverty alleviation.
