KARACHI: Nikhat Mirza, wife of the death row convict Saulat Mirza, on Wednesday claimed to have received threat calls from South Africa and Canada.
According to details, Nikhat Mirza said, “We received three such calls out which two were from the known persons, who had earlier been assuring us all possible assistance.”
She appealed the authorities to provide security to her 60 family members. “The callers warned that think of the consequences of whatever you are doing”, added the wife of Saulat Mirza.
“If something happens to me or any of my family members, then the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is to be held responsible,” she said. About the callers, Mrs. Mirza refused to divulge any names but said they were the same people who had been assuring her of their full cooperation regarding her husband’s case.
It is pertinent to mention here that Saulat is a former member of MQM, who is a convicted murderer of MD KESC Shahid Hamid. His execution was delayed last month after his video confession against MQM leaders surfaced. DNA
