ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan reviewed the plans on Friday to maintain peace and order during the by-elections that will take place in many Punjabi constituencies on July 17.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah presided over the meeting, which was also attended by Punjab Home Minister Ataullah Tarar, Home Secretary Yousuf Naseem Khokhar, Chief Secretary of Punjab Kamran Ali Afzal, Inspector General of Punjab Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan, and others. She stated, “It is our national responsibility to ensure law and order situation in by-elections.”
In order to maintain law and order during the by-elections, it was determined during the meeting that the Frontier Constabulary (FC) would be sent out in addition to the Rangers.
The group also decided to forbid armed party workers from moving throughout the districts where the by-elections would be place. The licence for the weapon would be cancelled and enforcement measures would be taken against the violators.
Discussion also included the Chief Election Commissioner’s letter addressing the use of security personnel in by-election districts.
Rana Sanaullah stated during the meeting that all resources will be used to ensure security in the constituencies during the by-elections.
In light of intelligence findings, the minister emphasised the necessity to take preventative action against the criminals.
He instructed the relevant departments to take action against the 300 armed individuals who had been transported from Gujrat to Lahore.
