ISLAMABAD: Right in the center of federal capital, eight story building of Safa Gold Mall in Setor F-7 describing the sorry state of affairs of CDA as mall has been constructed by violation of building codes.
If we put a glance we would came to know that actual measurement of the plot is 3177 square yard but the owners of the Safa gold mall has also occupied the surrounding area. A nearby nullah has also been including into the part of the mall by constructing a concrete roof top on it. Nullah place is being used to install heavy generators and air conditioning plants for the mall. According to sources this mall has been constructed on a plot which was allotted to Directorate of health of CDA but latter plot allotted to another party on the will of an influential person.
Administration of the mall has also violated the building codes of CDA; in the area a building for commercial usage could not be taller than three stories. But urban planning and building control section of CDA after the pressure of influential owners of the plaza passed the map for the building which is based on eight stories. Safa gold mall also violated the construction codes of building by building more shops than authorized on each floor. Initially, Chairman of CDA ordered an inquiry against the corrupt officers of CDA to provide help of any sort to the owners of Safa gold mall. But nothing substantial has been surfaced in this regard until this day. CDA has also stopped its lawyer from pursuing a case related to the alleged violation of building codes in the construction of a cinema house at the Safa Gold Mall. In 2012, the CDA allowed the construction of the cinema at the Safa Gold Mall but on April 23, 2015, the civic agency directed the management of the Mall to suspend the project.
