‘Stateless and unwanted’, who in this world would like to be a subject of such name calling? The treatment faced by the Rohingya Muslims has forced the world to look into their identity. These 1.1 million Rohingya Muslims in Burma striving with the imposed threats is calling to the world attention. The country bordered by Bangladesh has spewed out the Rohingya Muslims. Irony is the fact that neither of these two states is willing to accept this Muslim community. Living in Burma, these stateless muslims have been denied the basic necessities of life. State education was to be considered a luxury by this poor community where they strive for their legal right of life. Since World War Two number of Rohingya Muslims have been butchered and beheaded. This genocide that is being called as the process of ethnic cleansing is no less than Hitler’s holocaust. They have been denied the identity cards as if they’ve been denied their very existence in Myanmar. Civilian leadership of Myanmar has been seen with a skeptical eye but no protest has ceased them from their inhumane ways until now. The armed forces are busy in mass killings, rapes and beheading of the innocent Muslims. The allegation of trespassing has never had such penalties. 90,000 Rohingyas who were forced to get themselves settle down at the Bangladeshi border after the military crackdown of August 25, has proven to be one of the worst the world has seen. It’s amazing to witness the reaction of the world powers on this event. 1000 and still rising death toll has not made any difference to the Burmese authorities who have blocked the UN agencies’ aid to the deprived community. The disorganized resistance of Rohingya Muslims is in no way different than the Muslims screaming out for their rights in Kashmir. Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army’s (ARSA) face offs with the parliamentary check posts is said to be the prelude to this entire unrest. But it can’t be justified in any way and by any explanation. Entire world has spoken against the fury lead by the Burmese authorities. Turkish presidents, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken for their rights and has also offered financial aid for the refuges that are waiting for Bangladesh to open its doors for its Muslim brotherhood.
The genocide of Rohingya Muslims no less than the Hitler’s holocaust, needs an utter solution
