NEW DELHI The Indian Premier League will be missed by wicketkeeper/batsman Rishabh Pant due to the injuries he sustained in a recent car accident, according to former national cricket board president Saurav Ganguly.
On December 30, just before daybreak, the India star was involved in a serious accident involving his Mercedes SUV. A bus driver and conductor saved him after the automobile caught fire.
The annual two-month competition, featuring some of the best international names in the game, is set to start in late March or early April, and Pant will serve as captain of the Delhi Capitals team.
Pant won’t be available for the IPL, according to Ganguly, who is set to become the director of cricket for Delhi Capitals.
