ISLAMABAD: Jamshed Dasti, an independent Member National Assembly (MNA) from southern Punjab on Wednesday submitted a resolution in the assembly requesting to make ‘Abbottabad Commission Report’ public and its recommendations implemented.

The resolution asked the government to take actions against those who have been found responsible in the commission’s report.

Recently, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali also spoke about the Abbottabad Commission and announced that he would ask the cabinet to reveal findings of the report. ‘The Abbottabad raid was the biggest attack on country’s sovereignty in last 69 years,’ however, ‘A final decision over the Abbottabad Commission rests with the Prime Minister, he added.

Not only the interior ministry, Justice Javed Iqbal, who headed the Abbottabad Commission set up to conduct a probe after Osama bin Laden was found and eliminated in a covert operation by the United States (US) forces, also called for the inquiry report to be made public. Osama Bin Laden was the founder of the infamous militant group Al-Qaeda which claimed responsibility for many terrorist assaults worldwide, including the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States. He survived several attacks in Afghanistan but on May 2, 2011, the US forces carried out a surgical strike on a house in Abbottabad, located in the Hazara region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province in which he was reportedly killed. The then government created a commission to probe into the incident with Abbas Khan, Ashraf Jehangir Qazi and retired Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed as its members.
