Rehman Malik suggests PM to send parliamentary delegation to Iran, Saudi Arabia

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former minister for interior Rehman Malik on Saturday said that Pakistan should play a positive role in the Iran-Saudi conflict.

For the purpose, a delegation of parliamentary leaders should be sent to meet the Saudi leaders and Iranian President in order to convince them to resolve the matter through dialogue, he suggested to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

The PPP leader, in a letter to the Prime Minister, said it was a much needed step to pave way for an Iran-Saudi foreign ministers meeting.

He said the powers, which were enemies of Islam, were behind the Iran-Saudi conflict. The Daesh, Arabic acronym for the militant Islamic State group, would take advantage of the conflict as it wanted to divide the Muslim Ummah on the basis of sectarianism, he added.

Rehman Malik urged the Prime Minister to table a resolution in the United Nations, declaring Daesh as the enemy of humanity.
