ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) on Friday submitted a reference to the National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq seeking disqualification of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.
The reference was submitted by eight PML-N lawmakers including Daniyal Aziz, Talal Chaudhry and others.
Issue of Imran Khan’s off-shore companies, his flats outside Pakistan, income and Bani Gala land were raised in the reference.
The PML-N members have claimed that the PTI Chief cannot remain assembly’s member under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution and he should be disqualified.
The reference against Imran Khan was filed few days after the PTI filed a petition with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, members of his family and Ishaq Dar for alleged involvement in corrupt practices.
The petition comes after four disqualification petitions against the prime minister, filed by PTI, PPP, Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Awami Muslim League were heard at the Election Commission on 3rd August.
