RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has welcomed the launch of cargo trade via Gwadar Port through Cosco Wellington ship.
In a statement, President RCCI, Raja Amer Iqbal said that the dream to start of Chinese trade convoys from Kashghar to Pakistan, which arrived in Gwadar through the western route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) carrying Chinese goods for export to the Middle East and Africa has come true.
He said that presence of civil and military leadership along with foreign diplomats at the ceremony will boost the confidence of investors. He termed it a game changer for the economy of Pakistan.
RCCI President Raja Amer Iqbal said that CPEC will create opportunities for progress and prosperity in the region, especially for Balochistan. China’s economic vision one belt one road will set a new economic direction for the Pakistan, he added. He said that CPEC would make Gwadar a hub of trade activities and help in eliminating poverty from this less developed area by creating many new jobs for the local people. Western, central and eastern routes will play a key role in uplifting the poor condition of the areas across the routes.
However, he stressed upon the government to make sure that extension of industrial zones will take place as per schedule. We need more involvement of private sector, he added.
