KARACHI: A restaurant owned by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA, Ali Raza Abidi was raided by the Rangers on late Thursday night. Three people including a cousin of the MNA were taken into custody during the raid, but the couson was later released.
Ali Raza Abidi who was elected as an MNA from NA-250 was not present at the restaurant during the raid.
Following the raid MQM leaders Senator Nasreen Jalil and MNA Fouzia Hameed reached the restaurant.
The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) condemned the rangers raid at party MNA Ali Raza Abidi’s restaurant located in Clifton area ofKarachi and ‘unjustifiable’ arrest of his cousin.
In its press statement, the Rabita Committee asserted Ali Raza forcefully raised his voice against the injustices and the arrests of party activists.
Moreover, Abidi lodged an FIR against Imran Khan in Clifton, according to the press release. Abidi is being victimized through the raid on his restaurant and arrest of his cousin, the Coordination Committee was of the view.
The MQM’s central decision-making body asserted, “The raid and arrest of Abidi’s cousin is meant to give out a message that anyone who raises his voices against the state atrocities, will deserve the same treatment.”
Talking to media outside the restaurant, MQM leader Nasrin Jalil termed rangers raid at the restaurant and arrest as ‘terrorism’, saying, “Why is he (Abidi) being harassed and penalized?”
