Rangers; police 7 terrorists killed in police encounter

Seven terrorists die in encounter

Mastermind behind SSP Ch Aslam’s murder killed

 

KARACHI: At least seven terrorists were killed in police encounter in Ayub Goth area of Karachi on Sunday.

Police launched operation in Ayub on a tip-off from intelligence agencies about the presence of miscreants in the area and killed the terrorists in the encounter. There was an exchange of fire between the police and the terrorists which continued for several hours.

According to police, the terrorists were planning various terrorist attacks in the city on the day of Eid. Three terrorists involved in the murder of SSP Chaudhry Aslam are among those killed in the encounter.

The three terrorists have been identified as Amin, Lal Dada and Usman. Sources have revealed that Amin was the mastermind behind SSP Chaudhry Aslam’s murder whereas Lal Dar provided weapons to banned outfits to carry out the terror attack. The third terror suspect was involved in the suicide bomb blast.

The entire region has been cordoned off and the entry and exit routes are also blocked.

The exchange of fire between the police and terrorists is still going on in Ayub Goth located near Super Highway in Karachi. At least 300 Rangers including anti-terrorism squad are part of the target operation.

Earlier in the wee hours of Sunday, Rangers and police on a tip-off about presence of suspected criminals and workers of banned outfits, carried out an operation in the Quetta Town, located near the Super Highway of Karachi and arrested several suspected criminals. They were shifted to some unknown place for interrogation. These criminals were said to be involved in extortion, target killing and kidnapping. Hand grenades, ball bombs and different types of weapons were also recovered.INP
