Ebad calls interior minister; demands impartial inquiry

ISLAMABAD: Director General Rangers Maj. General Bilal Akbar Thursday briefed Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan over the situation of Karachi. During the meeting, the interior minister appreciated the efforts of the paramilitary force, saying that the Rangers are playing a pivotal role for restoration of peace.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also contacted Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on telephone and discussed the law and order situation in the province.

Later, Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad contacted Ch Nisar and DG-Rangers Sindh separately and demanded an impartial inquiry of the Rangers raid on the MQM office in Karachi and arrest of the party workers.

Governor Sindh who is in Dubai urged the Director General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar to complete the investigation with the detained MQM workers.

It is worth mentioning here that 23 activists of MQM were taken into custody by the Sindh Rangers during a raid at the party’s office in Gulshan-i-Maymar.

After interrogating eight of the arrested MQM workers were released while rest of the actitivits still remained under rangers’ custody.
