LAHORE/PESHAWAR: Rains have broken the hot spell in various areas of Khuber Pakhtwankhwa and Punjab while four children died and two were injured in various accidents. The Meteorological Department has forecast more rains during next 24 hours.
Rains lashed Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan intermittently turning the weather pleasant.
Rains also lashed Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and other cities but it turned out to be an inconvenience in Sialkot, Nowshera, and Khoshab where roads turned into ponds.
Spokesman of Met-Office informed that good monsoon currents are likely to penetrate in upper & central parts of the country in next 48 hrs. Due to monsoon incursion, rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected at a number of places in Islamabad, Punjab, FATA, KP and Kashmir up to Thursday.
While rain/thunderstorm is also expected at isolated places of Gilgit-Baltistan, Sindh and Eastern parts of Balochistan (Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Kalat divisions) during the period.
Expected heavy downpour may cause flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, KP, GB and Kashmir. Rain coupled with glacier melt water may result in GLOF events in vulnerable areas of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The concerned authorities and communities are advised to remain alert during the period, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday.
