RAWALPINDI, Dec 3 (INP): A colorful event to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities was arranged by Rawalpindi Arts Council organized here on Wednesday to pay rich tribute to special persons. Member Punjab Assembly Raja Muhammad Hanif Advocate was the chief guest flanked by DO Special Education Nusrat Najeeb and Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed. Twelve institutions of special children along with their heads participated in the variety program which made it colorful and impressive. Principal Special Education Centre Gujar Khan Jamal Abdul Nasir and Ms Naila anchored the program. Addressing at the awards distribution ceremony, Member Punjab Assembly Raja Muhammad Hanif said that the people with disabilities must not to be labeled as ‘special’ or ‘disabled’ because they are very important segment of the society. He added that these children are our valuable asset and dignity, respect and better education with training can help these people to integrate with the society. Resident Director RAC Waqar Ahmed said International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated very year at RAC with full zeal and zest aiming to provide platform to show their skills. DO Special Education Nusrat Najeeb said that the Special Education Department is utilizing all the available resources for imparting education the children. She thanked Rawalpindi Arts Council for providing opportunity to the children for showing their talent. The participating institutions were Govt Special Education Centre, Gujar Khan, Special Education Centre, Taxila, Special Education Centre, Murree, Special Education Centre, Kahuta, Special Education Centre, Kotli Sattian, Special Education Centre, Kallar Sayyedan, Institute for Mentally retarded children, Rawalpindi, Deaf & Defective Hearing School, Rawalpindi, Institute for Slow Learners, Rawalpindi, Qandeel Institute for Blind, Rawalpindi, Al Ghazali School for Physically Disabled, Rawalpindi, and Govt Secondary School for Blind Girls, Rawalpindi. The children presented tableaus, folk songs, poems, speeches, folk dances and national songs.The event was organized in cooperation with Special Education Department, Government of Punjab. INP
